GAAA employee tests positive for COVID-19
Galveston Area Ambulance Authority (GAAA) this morning reports one employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
The employee is currently self-quarantined.
Out of an abundance of caution, GAAA tested crew members for the virus in response to the City of Galveston announcing some of its Galveston Fire Department employees had tested positive for the virus.
Of the 13 tested, one has come back positive, 10 negative and two are pending. Employees are self-observing for symptoms, practicing social distancing and taking every precaution to keep themselves and the public safe.
Galveston County Health District is currently investigating any contacts within the department and public. The testing and self-quarantine of these individuals has not affected GAAA operations.
