ARC to offer $5 adoptions to help Clear the Shelters Aug. 17
Galveston County Animal Resource Center (ARC) is joining shelters across the nation on Saturday, Aug. 17 as part of NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters national pet adoption event.
And to sweeten the deal, ARC is offering $5 adoptions for all cats and dogs. That adoption fee will include spay/ neuter, vaccinations including rabies and a microchip.
“We are thrilled to once again participate in this wonderful event,” said Amber Adams, ARC animal services director. “And, thanks to generous donations to our Sponsor A Heart fund, we’re able to offer adoptions for just $5.”
The ARC continues to see a steady number of animals entering the shelter. While the spring is typically a busy puppy and kitten season, there continues to be a substantial increase in cats and kittens coming to the shelter. Since July 1, the ARC has had more than 450 animals come through its doors.
“We are always grateful for the support we receive from the community through adoptions and now, fostering. But, we still have a number of cats and kittens, as well as dogs, looking for their forever home. Clear the Shelters is the perfect time to come out and find a furry four-legged friend to join your family.”
While ARC is not overcrowded, it is close to capacity daily.
NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters is spearheaded locally by Telemundo Houston. More than 150,000 pets have been adopted nationally through Clear the Shelters since it started in 2015.
“All adoptions from the ARC include spay or neuter, vaccinations including rabies and a microchip, so being able to adopt for just $5 is quite a bit of savings,” Adams said. “Our adoption totals have grown over the past three Clear the Shelters events and we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.”
Clear the Shelters will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at ARC, located at 3412 25th Ave. North (Loop 197 North) in Texas City on Aug. 17. For more information call 409-948-2485 or email email@example.com.
