Move-in set to begin at new Animal Resource Center
Press Release
November 1, 2011
Galveston County and Cities – Excitement is building at the Galveston County Health District’s animal shelter in Texas City as they prepare for their move to the new Galveston County Animal Resource center.
Approved by county voters in 2008 the new Resource Center will more than double the space of the existing facility, and provide for a much more public friendly environment.
Beginning November 5th there will be no adoptions conducted until November 15th. During that time staff will be preparing the new Resource Center for occupancy, and moving animals from the building next door into their new state-of-the-art facility.
During the move-in period field operations will not be impacted and will continue operating as usual in the areas served by the District’s Animal Services. Residents can still call for assistance with stray animals, bite reports and other needs by calling (409) 948-2485.
All of this is in preparation for the facility’s official Grand Opening on November 28th at 9:30 a.m.
