Clinics' Governing Board Welcomes New Members

Galveston County and Cities – The Galveston County Health District’s (GCHD) 4C’s Governing Board recently welcomed four new board members.

The 4C’s Governing Board sets policy for their two clinics in Galveston County. One clinic located at 2000 Texas Avenue in the Texas City Community Family Center; and the other located in Galveston’s Island Community Center at 4700 Broadway.

GCHD is in the process of developing a new five year Strategic Health plan to address community health needs. Governing Board members will approve the plan and use it as a tool to assess care and operations in the clinic. Members will also be adjusting policy as necessary to accommodate changes resulting from national health care insurance reform as it may impact community health centers.

New board member Ms. Vicky Hennigan represents 4C’s consumers. She is a business woman who lost her business and insurance and found medical care in the 4C’s clinics. Ms. Hennigan wants to represent emerging new patients who may have never gone to the clinics before, but now with changes in employment status may need to access care in the health centers.

New community representative Mr. Jose Boix is a longtime resident of Galveston County and very active in the community. Most recently he served on the Mainland Medical Centers Governing Board. A retired engineer Mr. Boix is very interested in indigent health care.

Mrs. Eliza Quigley, Vice President of Development for the Children’s Center Inc. is a new community representative. She is a licensed social worker interested in healthcare for the uninsured and low income populations.

Also representing the community is Mr. Ron Shelby, Director of Finance and Administration for Galveston County. He is very interested in understanding the clinics from a healthcare finance standpoint and how the programs are growing and changing.

Dr. Mark Guidry, Galveston County Health Authority and GCHD Chief Executive Officer says, "Board members give their time, wisdom, and support to district priorities and activities. We welcome these new members and look forward to working with them in a rapidly changing healthcare environment."
