Food Service Operators to be Recognized
press release 03/28/06
La Marque
– Food service establishments deserving recognition for cleanliness will be
presented “Gold Ribbon” awards by the Galveston County Health District’s
Consumer Health Services Division during a ceremony to be held April 5th
at the Wayne Johnson Community Center in La Marque beginning at 7 pm. Galveston
County Judge Jim Yarbrough will be on hand along with Health District officials
to distribute the awards.
Sanitarians from the district regularly inspect more than 1,500 licensed food
service operations in Galveston County. In selecting the recipients
of Gold Ribbon awards sanitarians nominate exemplary operators from the
establishments they are responsible for inspecting. After a review of records
the final honorees are chosen.
“We enjoy taking this opportunity each year to recognize those operators doing a great job in the
arena of food service,” says Martin Entringer the District’s manager of Consumer
Health Services. “All too often people only hear about problems with food
service establishments and we feel that good news should be shared with the
community. There are many food service establishments doing a good job.”
