Animal Services Manager
Press Release
04/2706
La Marque– The Galveston County Health District has announced the selection of a new Animal
Services Manager. After an extensive search throughout the area Kim Schoolcraft
was chosen to fill the position.
Schoolcraft is a former police officer for the City of
Galveston and served as Chief of Police from 1997 to 2000. Later, she served as manager of the Animal Shelter and Adoption
Center of Galveston Inc.
Schoolcraft loves pets and has volunteered at local shelters including the
Health District’s Joe Vickery Animal Shelter that she will now oversee. She has
a strong desire to reduce the number of unwanted pets in Galveston County through
adoptions, public education, spay and neuter programs, and compliance with local
and state regulations. Schoolcraft assumed her new position on April 24th.
Ronnie Schultz, Director of Environmental Health Programs at the District says,
“We are very excited to have someone of Kim’s caliber join our team. As part of
our Strategic Health Plan we have been continually improving our animal services
provided to contracted cities and we feel that Kim will help us continue making
improvements.”
