by staff reportsLess than two years after taking over the operations of the
county’s animal shelter, director Michelle Reynolds abruptly resigned. Kurt
Koopman, the spokesman for the Galveston County Health District, which oversees
the animal shelter, confirmed Reynolds’ unexpected departure Thursday.
Koopman said he was unable to do more than confirm Reynolds had resigned and
declined to answer questions concerning any possible strife between the director
and her bosses at the health district.
Ronnie Shultz, the health district’s director for environmental health programs,
will manage operations of the Joe Vickery Animal Shelter in Texas City until a
new director is named, Koopman said.
