Bolivar Peninsula
Boil Water Advisory Lifted
News release
September 29, 2005La Marque
– Effective Thursday,
September 29, 2005 residents of the Bolivar Peninsula are no longer required to
boil water prior to consumption. Results of water samples were received early
Thursday morning that indicated the water meets state requirements and is safe
for drinking.
Residents of the peninsula have been under a boil water advisory since Sunday, September
25, 2005. Early the previous morning the District encountered a system shut
down due to Hurricane Rita. The entire Bolivar Peninsula is without power and
the system is currently running on generators. Customers are currently under a
water rationing notice that prohibits nonessential uses of water. However, they
are working to bring a second plant site on line and hope to remove the water
rationing requirements within the next week.
Customers should call the Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District at (409)
684-3515 if they experience any problems with their water.
