Boil Water Advisory

Press release
September 27, 2005

La Marque – The Galveston County Health District has confirmed that Galveston Island west of Seven Mile Road excluding Jamaica Beach and the Bolivar Peninsula including High Island remain under “Boil Water” advisories.  These advisories are a result of the disruption of water service from Hurricane Rita.

Residents should remain aware that once repairs are complete and water is flowing through the line, it is not safe to consume the water until laboratory tests confirm its purity.  These advisories will remain in effect until such time that officials have declared the water safe for use.

Disinfecting contaminated drinking water guidelines can be found on the District’s web site at:  http://www.gchd.org/pages/ech/disinfectdrinkwater.htm.
