Food
Service Operators Recognized
Press Release
April 7, 2005
La Marque -
Food service
establishments deserving recognition for cleanliness were presented with “Gold
Ribbon” awards by the Galveston County Health District, Consumer Health Services
Division during a ceremony held April 6th at the Wayne Johnson
Community Center in La Marque. Galveston County Judge Jim Yarbrough presented
opening remarks along with Jay Holland, Chief Operating Officer for the
District. County Commissioner Stephen Holmes was also in attendance. Sanitarians from the
district regularly inspect more than 1,500 licensed food service operations in
Galveston County. In selecting the recipients of Gold Ribbon awards,
sanitarians nominate exemplary operators from the establishments they are
responsible for inspecting. After a review of records, the final honorees are
chosen. “It is important that we recognize those operators doing a good job in
the arena of food service” says Martin Entringer the manager of the District’s
Consumer Health Services. “All too often people only hear about problems we
encounter while performing inspections, and we feel that good news should also
be shared with the community. There are many food service establishments doing
a good job".2005 Gold Ribbon
