County Health District moves
flu vaccination
sites

To better serve the public
the Galveston County Health District has
moved flu vaccination sites on the mainland
to its headquarters in La Marque on 1207
Oak St. The Texas City Immunization Clinic
at 2000 Texas Ave., and the Dickinson
Clinic at 905 Pine Drive will both relocate
to La Marque allowing easier access for
those in high-risk groups seeking a flu
shot.
Flu shots will be given at
the La Marque location from 9 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. daily while vaccine supplies
are available.
The Galveston Immunization
Clinic in the Island Community Center
at 4700 Broadway will continue to provide
flu shots as usual.
Under the interim guidelines
issued in the wake of a vaccine shortage
the following priority groups may receive
a flu vaccination from the Galveston County
Health District:
- All children aged 6-23
months.
- Adults 65 years and
older.
- Persons aged 2-64 years
with underlying chronic conditions.
- All women who will
be pregnant during the influenza season.
- Residents of nursing
homes and long-term care facilities.
- Children aged 6 months
— 18 years on chronic aspiring
therapy.
- Health-care workers
involved in direct patient care.
- Out-of-home caregivers
and household contacts of children
less than 6 months old.
