In
tough times, think of those in need
October 7, 2004
Galveston Daily News Editorial

With flu season approaching,
health officials are asking the public
to think of those in most need of help.
Due to shortages of the flu vaccine, healthy
people are asked to refrain from getting
vaccinated, ensuring that those who most
need the vaccine have access to it.
We encourage those who could go without
the vaccine for a while to do so. The
risks posed by the flu to healthy people
are small compared to the weak, who could
possibly die.
Please make this small sacrifice.
If you’re in one of those high-risk
groups — such as the elderly or
young children — take advantage
of your neighbors’ kindness.
