Galveston County sets up
flu shots for
seniors

LA MARQUE -
Flu shots are being administered at various
Galveston County senior citizen centers
today and next week, Galveston County
Health District officials announced Thursday.
People meeting the high-risk
requirements for receiving flu vaccinations
are advised to call the different senior
centers and sign up in advance to get
shots. The centers have limited vaccinations
available, said Kurt Koopman, spokesman
for the county health district.
The vaccinations are being
administered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
the following locations:
- Wayne Johnson Community Center in
Carbide Park at 4102 FM 519 in La
Marque today. To schedule an appointment
call 409-934-8148.
- Bacliff Senior Citizens Center at
4503 11th Street in Bacliff on Monday.
Appointments can be made at 281-559-2095.
- Nessler Center at 2010 Fifth Ave.
North in Texas City on Tuesday. Call
409-643-5877 for an appointment.
- Bay Vue United Methodist Church at
1441 Hwy 87 in Crystal Beach on Friday.
Appointments may be arranged by calling
409-684-2273 or 409-684-6678.
Previously registered patients of the
health district's 4C's clinics may still
receive flu shots at the Galveston Clinic
in the Island Community Center at 4700
Broadway and the Texas City Clinic at
2000 Texas Avenue in Texas City, Koopman
said. For more information about vaccine
availability for 4C's patients call the
4C's NurseLine at 409-938-2355.
