Galveston— An outbreak of gastroenteritis among people who recently attended a conference of the National Trooper Coalition was reported to the Galveston County Health District.

Thirty-seven cases of diarrhea and vomiting have been reported to Chuck Chambers, the health district epidemiologist.

One person who attended the conference was hospitalized, but no deaths had been reported.

The health district is investigating to determine what caused the illnesses. Environmental inspectors are investigating possible sources of food contamination.
