4C’s Clinic Directors
03/26/04
Published in the Galveston Daily News 3/27/04La Marque: Today
the Galveston County Health District announced the appointment
of two new directors. After extensive searches the positions
of 4C’s Medical Director, and 4C’s Dental Director
have been filled.
Dr. Abdul-Aziz Alhassan began serving as 4C’s
Medical Director February 26, 2004. Dr. Alhassan is a board-certified
family physician with a comprehensive scope of practice from
prenatal to newborn to geriatrics. He completed his medical
education in Mexico and his family practice residency at Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Alhassan speaks in favor of open access
to care, productivity, and quality of care and has provided
care to individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds including
those that may be uninsured or underinsured. He also speaks
Spanish fluently which is a great asset to the 4C’s
Clinics. Dr. Alhassan states that “access to care is
very important and I would like to see medical care more readily
available through the 4C’s clinics’ whenever possible.”
In an effort to increase access to health care
in the 4C’s clinics’ the District is emphasizing
its evening hours when patients can be seen by medical providers.
The Texas City Clinic located in the Community Family Center
at 2000 Texas Avenue in Texas City is open until 8 p.m. on
Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. The Galveston Clinic in the
Island Community Center at 4700 Broadway is open until 8 p.m.
on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. To schedule appointments
residents should call (409) 938-2234, Monday to Friday, 8
a.m. until 5 p.m. Those living in Galveston County with a
281 area code can call (281) 309-0255.
Dr. Beverly M. Foster has joined the District
as Dental Director of the 4C’s Dental Clinic. She is
a Hitchcock native who received her dental degree from the
Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington D.C.
Dr. Foster has over ten years experience as a licensed dentist.
“It is always nice when a person can return to the community
that they were raised in,” states Dr. Foster.
Dr. Foster intends to focus much of her time
on improving the appointment system at 4C’s Dental clinics
in an effort to assist the ever growing number of county residents
seeking dental care. “I realize that many people have
a need for dental care and I intend to evaluate our operations
to insure that we can provide those services people most often
find themselves in need of,” Foster says.
“Ultimately one measure of any medical
clinics’ success is how well its leaders respond to
patients’ needs,” said Dr. Mark Guidry, Chief
Executive Officer and Health Authority for the Galveston County
Health District. “We feel that these two Directors’
are top-quality and will bring patient-focused leadership
needed to improve the medical and dental services offered
through the 4C’s clinics’.”
Established in 1969 the 4C’s clinics’
provide primary health and dental care to area residents who
have limited access to health care because of lack in financial
resources or health care reimbursement.
