The Consumer Health Division's swimming
pool sanitation program is designed to protect the health
and safety of people in the county who use these facilities.
The program includes inspecting and permitting each public
or semi-public facility within the Health District's jurisdiction.
The requirements for pool operation are taken
from the county regulation
"Rules
on Swimming Pool Sanitation" and the following applicable
regulations from the Texas Department of
State Health Services:
Permitting, Fees, and Inspections
An application form must be filled
out for each public or semi-public pool or spa. Approval for
a permit requires the owner or operator to provide information
on the latest results of water samples tested for bacteriological
safety, the name of their certified operator, pass an inspection
and pay a permit fee of $100 annually for each
permit. The pools are inspected annually and when complaints
are received.
