There are 3 categories of solid waste facilities located throughout
Galveston County:
Type I: A standard landfill for the
disposal of municipal solid waste (household garbage).
Type IV: A site authorized for the
disposal of brush, construction/demolition waste and/or rubbish
(trash) that is free of other solid wastes.
Type V: A solid waste processing site
that transfers, incinerates, shreds, grinds, bales, composts,
salvages, separates, dewaters, reclaims, and/or provides
other processing of solid waste.
