The United Board of Health (Board) is a thirteen (13) member board who members are nominated by the Galveston County Commissioner’s Court and ratified by a majority of member cities. The Board is responsible for setting policies and fees for the Galveston County Health District for the provision of services outlined in the interlocal agreement between member governments and regarding other essential public health functions defined in State statue. The Board also appoints and evaluates the performance of the CEO of the organization. Board members serve two (2) year terms, after which they are renewed or replaced. Authoritative actions of the Board are routinely taken during monthly scheduled meetings.
