Willie Tolivar
Consumer Representative
Mr Tolivar has been a patient of the 4C's Clinic for
over three years. He is an active participant of the
diabetes education program for about two years and has become a
coach, giving presentation on diabetes for about a year.
He is a BOI (Born on Island) and currently a resident of Galveston. He is a former
police officer, having served 8 years in Houston and four years
in Fort Bend as a deputy. He attributes part of his success as
a coach and diabetes educator to this successful 10 years of
abstinence and sobriety from past substance use.
He
gives diabetes classes every other Friday at Jesse Tree Food
Fairs where his popular classes maintain the largest number of
participants - many who identify with his past life experiences
and his successful outcome.
Mr. Tolivar seeks to help
efforts to improve healthcare services in the 4C's Clinics. |
