Tanner is happy because he has a ticket home if he ever gets lost! He’s been microchipped!

The information in the microchip can be retrieved by the Galveston County Animal Resource Center to reunite Tanner with his worried family.

Pet Registration Process

  • Have your pets vaccitnated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian.
  • Make a copy of each of your pets' current rabies vaccination certificate.

If your pet is microchipped

If your pet is microchipped, you can complete and submit a registration form online.  Please fill out a separate form for each pet you are registering.

You must include proof of microchip with a letter, certificate or receipt from the microchip company OR a veterinarian showing that the animal is micro-chipped.

To submit your rabies vaccine certificate and proof of microchip, please fax to 409-945-2540, email to or bring a copy to the Animal Resource Center.

If your pet is NOT microchipped

The registration fee is $20.00, which includes micro-chipping and is good for the lifetime of your pet. If you are 65 years of age or older, the registration fee is $15. You must bring your pet and current rabies vaccine certificate to the Animal Resource Center,

You will be provided with a registration certificate that you will need to keep, as it will be your proof of county registration.

These registration requirements apply only to the municipalities served by the ARC: Bayou Vista, Hitchcock, Kemah, La Marque, Texas City, Tiki Island and unincorporated Galveston County.
If you live elsewhere, please contact your local city government about your local pet registration requirements.
