ARC offers half price adoptions to help Clear the Shelters Aug. 18
Galveston County Animal Resource Center (ARC) is joining shelters across the nation on Saturday, Aug. 18 as part of NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters national pet adoption event.
“We are excited to take part in Clear the Shelters again this year,” said Amber Adams, ARC animal services director. “We’ve seen a substantial increase in animal intake over the past few months and while we’re thankful for the community support, we do still have a number of dogs and cats looking for their forever homes.”
On Aug. 18, regular price adoptions will be half price at $42.50, black animals pre-selected by staff will be $20 and senior animals, ages 5 years and older and pre-selected by staff, will be $20. Some animals are eligible to be adopted through the “Sponsor a Heart” fund, which waives the adoption fee completely. This will be available only while funds last. All reduced rates include spay or neuter, rabies vaccination and a microchip.
NBC Universal’s Clear the Shelters is spearheaded locally by Telemundo Houston. More than 150,000 pets have been adopted nationally through Clear the Shelters since it started in 2015.
“All adoptions from the ARC include spay or neuter, rabies vaccination and a microchip, so being able to adopt at half price, or even free, is quite a bit of savings,” Adams said. “Our adoption totals have grown over the past two Clear the Shelters events and we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.”
ARC is located at 3412 25th Ave. North (Loop 197 North) in Texas City and will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Aug. 18. For information call (409) 948-2485 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
